I took a vacation day from work today (Weds 9/14) and
bombed on out to Bottle Beach to try for the Curlew
Sapdpiper. No Joy, after searching from 7:30AM to
1:30PM on the on-coming and out-going tide.
We did see the Sharp-Tailed Sandpiper and the usuals.
A Black-and-White Warbler was also seen, but I missed
it myself.

I then went over to Damon Point, expecting to dip once
again on Golden Plover, looking for a little more
abuse. However ......

On the way in I saw a Say's Phoebe just east of the
parking lot. Then on the way back out, just west of
the pond, I found 10 Golden Plovers! I think there
were 8 Pacific and 2 American, but I will have to
review my pictures to be sure. Most were obviously
Pacific, but 2 were in transitional plumage, and had
characteristics I thought indicated American. I will
re-post if I change my mind about the species calls.
