11:41 AM PDT on Friday, September 16, 2005
OLYMPIA, Wash. - The state Health Department says a dead bird from
Yakima County tested positive for West Nile virus.
The magpie was collected in early September and tested at a lab at
Washington State University.
The department says it's the first bird in the state to test positive
for West Nile since 2002.
There have been no human cases of the virus in Washington.
