I managed to have a fine day of birding, despite the rain.

At the Montlake Fill, Rebecca Galloway and I saw plenty of
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS, my first of the season, and one LINCOLN'S
SPARROW. We saw no shorebirds at all. Later, on the wooded trail to
the south of the buildings, I ran into a mixed flock of Bushtits and
chickadees that included an ORANGE-CROWNED and a YELLOW WARBLER, a
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, and a HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER (I'm pretty sure).

I was already wet and muddy, so, on my way home, I figured I might as
well stop at Rogers Park, on Queen Anne. This little park has always
been worth a visit in the Spring, but I have never birded it in the
Fall. It turned out to be jumping with birds; every time I got ready to
leave, another interesting bird would turn up. In among the usual
residents, there was a PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER, at least ten
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, two HERMIT THRUSHES eating berries, four
ORANGE-CROWNED, a YELLOW, and a WILSON'S WARBLER, and, most surprising
to me, a WESTERN TANAGER.
