Monday, September 12 - 9:06 PM - This is Wayne Weber at 604 597 7201
for Monday, September 12th, reporting for the field trip from the WOS
Conference that was led by Howard Armstrong to Fir Island on the
Skagit Flats. At the Jensen Access on Fir Island in Skagit County we
found with a large flock of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS two BAR-TAILED
GODWITS, four WHIMBRELS, one RED KNOT, at least four BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, not with the Black-bellies but with other shorebirds just
barely outside the dike in some ponds. There was also one AMERICAN
GOLDEN PLOVER. At one point we saw one with the Black-bellies on a
log outside the dike. At another point it was on a bare field inside
the dike. We also saw a flock of about twenty LAPLAND LONGSPURS
flying overhead. That's it for today.
