A female HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen 14 Sep by Ginger Shoemake in Mill Creek at
Rook's Park just east of Walla Walla, Walla Walla Co WA. WA DeLorme 41, D-6.

Shorebirds were good at Mann Lake, east of Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID this
past week. On 15 Sep Keith Carlson reports 15 AMERICAN AVOCETS along with a
SANDERLING and 6 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS. On 17 Sep several birders found a
GREAT EGRET, a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, 3
SANDERLINGS, a STILT SANDPIPER, and 9 other shorebird species. From the
north end of Lewiston, follow US 12 south into town, cross the Clearwater
River on Memorial Bridge and immediately take the first left (east) toward
East Lewiston. Turn left (east) onto East Main Street and go about a half
mile to the flashing yellow lights. Turn right (south) onto Lapwai (a.k.a.
Lindsay Creek) Road. When the road forks stay right on Lindsay Creek Road
(Nez Perce County Road 460) and follow it about 5 miles to its terminus at
Grelle Avenue. Turn left (east) onto Grelle Avenue and just past the sharp
right curve, turn left (east) onto East Powers Avenue (a.k.a. Lapwai Road).
Continue straight (east) past the grain towers to the main parking lot. ID
DeLorme 54, A-1.

Fran Haywood reports at least 10 GREAT EGRETS were on the mud at North
Silver Lake, Spokane Co WA on 16 Sep.

A Latah Co ID GREAT EGRET has been present for about a week, according to
Suzanne Qualmann. I found the bird yesterday. To get to it from US 95, head
west on ID 6 toward Palouse, WA. Go about 2.5 miles to milepost 101.9 and
turn south on Wellesley Road. Follow Wellesley near 2 miles. Just past the
turnoff to South River Road, Wellesley goes up a hill. Just to the west is
an oxbow where the egret has been foraging. ID DeLorme 58, B-1.

On 18 Sep a first year female TENNESSEE WARBLER was a one-day wonder in
Othello, Adams Co WA according to Bob Flores.

A BLUE JAY was seen 18 Sep in Moscow, Latah Co ID by Ray and Bettie Hoff.
Blue Jays are nearly an annual occurrence at their home on the corner of
Hayes and Seventh.

Good birding.
