Ruth --Betty and I were at the WSU ponds in Puyallup at noon today and are
quite sure we aw a male Common Whitetail dragonfly -- looked at your photos but
only females there. We had a hard time describing the wings: transparent at
the end merging into black and then again transparent. We think it's the male
on page 24 of Dr. Paulson's "Dragonflies of Washington." Incidentally, very
little on the ponds except lots of e-your-guess-mallards,
,2-pied-billed G bes, some molting teal,gadwall, one shoveler-- sorry-my
new computer is really not doing very well from my keyboard. Murray
