Forgot to also mention W. MEADOWLARK. There were two returners at Grays
yesterday, and had a funny single at the Marysville Middle School football
field on Saturday about 10:15 a.m. This bird landed right at the goal line
of the southern end zone, which was a busy spot, as the Marysville Jaguars
were concluding a 48-0 win over the Granite Falls Eagles. Just so, the end
zone grass had some new cleat-borne gashes and, despite players and fans at
pretty close range, the opportunistic meadowlark quickly landed, looked
around as if curious, grabbed some prey item from the turf, and flew off,
continuing southbound. Must be September!
