Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 29. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

A male BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER was at Malheur NWR Headquarters September
28. Otherwise Southeastern Oregon has been rather quiet.

Heavy sparrow movements were reported during the week with several
WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS seen. VARIED THRUSHES are now increasing in the
Western Oregon lowlands.

On September 23 a BOBOLINK was on the North Spit of Coos Bay. A BREWER?S
SPARROW was seen September 25 in Lincoln City. On September 24 a
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER, a BLACK PHOEBE, a PALM WARBLER, and four
WHITE-TAILED KITES were along Fenk Road west of Tillamook.

SABINE?S GULLS are still being seen on Sauvie Island. On September 22 a
SWAINSON?S HAWK was on the west side of the Island. It was seen again
September 26. At least 140 GREAT EGRETS are now at Smith Lake in North
Portland. On September 25 A BRANT was at the mouth of the Klickitat River at
Lyle, WA.

On September 28 a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was over the Fernhill Wetlands in Forest
Grove. A FERRUGINOUS HAWK was seen September 17 east of Salem near Mehema. A
SABINE?S GULL was at Dexter Reservoir, east of Eugene September 23.

On September 25 a PARASITIC JAEGER was at Wickiup Reservoir south of Bend.
up to two SABINE?S GULLS are now at Summer Lake. Four were at the LaGrande
Sewage Ponds September 23.

On Saturday October 1, the Sauvie Island Wildlife Area, and most other
Wildlife Areas and refuges will close for the winter.
