Yesterday I was home, sick, and decided to rest outside for a while. I was
rewarded with a pair (M & F) of Townsend warblers using my mister bird
bath, and flitting among the flower seedpods in my garden. I saw a pair
Sunday also (same pair?). I had three bushtits eating the bugs and/or
seedpods (bird usage is the reason I do not cut the seedpods down until about the end of January). Sunday, and yesterday, I saw a red-breasted sapsucker in the cottonwood (I wonder how often one is there that I don't notice or hear it). Oh, and on Sunday I had a Hutton's Vireo also using the bird bath. So, even though I
felt lousy, I was rewarded with special birds. I heard an American
Goldfinch(es), but even though I put out fresh Nyger seed, I didn't see it in my
yard, but that doesn't mean they didn't come. Two band-tailed pigeons also
visited underneath my back feeder before a squirrel chased them away.
Those are in addition to my regular users.
I have not seen any Rufus Hummers in my yard since last Monday--Sept 19th; but I have Anna's around all year.
