Hi All,

I'm certain I just saw a Northern Goshawk over the California business district of West Seattle. The prey species were going nuts so I got Delia to stop in traffic and I got to see the bird circle once before flying off south. What a big, highly wing-loaded bird and with its long tapered wings my first reflex thought was Harrier, and no stiffness in the wingbeat like a Coopers, and the tail coverts very evident. It appeared to be a juvenile. Still, I missed all the other possible ID marks and I doubt this ID could pass the WASLE.

Earlier, there was a Red Throated Loon in basic plumage, Barrows Goldeneyes, Pelagic and Double Crested Cormorants, Horned and Red Necked Grebe at Jack Block. The spirit of Kevin LI was alive and well and thanks to braver souls than me who aren't afraid of heights, there are many more gourds there for Purple Martins.
