Yesterday, Hugh Jennings led an ELWAS trip to Nisqually NWR, and we were
treated to a wonderful day of birding, the afternoon of which was
intersperced with horizontal rain and fluffy clouds...

Among the highlights: an American Bittern (on the Ring Dyke trail) who
posed for the group, a small number of Northern Pintails and a successful
Northern Harrier (along McAllister Creek) ... Myrtle Yellow-Rumps were
abundant almost everywhere, as were Tree, Violet-green, and Rough-winged
Swallows, and the Great Horned Owl (and one of the owlets) was seen near the
Twin Barns...

Photos of the bittern and the harrier can be found on my website in the
Photos of the Month gallery...

Also on the website, I have started uploading a monthly desktop image freely
downloadable from the Park Gallery archives... April's image is a Gulf
Fritillary Butterfly, photo taken at Woodland Park Zoo last summer... Just
click on the CALENDAR link from the main homepage, and follow directions...

Enjoy!
