It was interesting to note that the white-headed woodpeckers are
still around Swauk Cemetery. We had them there on the Christmas
Count. It was the first time I had seen them there. I have four
bluebird boxes in the cemetery with many more along Ley and Swauk
Roads, etc. I've had the trail for well over ten years and had never
seen white-headed woodpeckers until this past December. I was also
surprised that you had "numerous" western bluebirds. Usually, the
common bluebird nesting in that area is the mountain bluebird, with
perhaps one or two boxes with westerns. Hope the woodpeckers stay!!
