RARE BIRD ALERT for a PAINTED BUNTING at Brentwood Bay
near Victoria.


Sightings for Friday, March 31st:

The PAINTED BUNTING continues to be seen daily at the feeder of 906 Damelart
Way, Brentwood Bay, Vancouver Island. For further information
on this bird, please call the Victoria RBA at (250) 592-3381.

At Brunswick Point in Delta, the CLARK'S GREBE with 11 WESTERN
GREBES was present in the Fraser River, seen from the dyke at the
end of River Road. Nearby were 6 SNOWY OWLS, 3 EURASIAN
WIGEONS, and 1 hybrid AMERICAN EURASIAN WIGEON. Nearby
at the Westham Island Bridge, 4 MUTE SWANS were seen. In a field
along 33A Avenue, a WESTERN MEADOWLARK was present.

At Boundary Bay at the foot of 72nd St, 3 SNOWY OWLS were present
along the foreshore. Also here were 12 SAVANNAH SPARROWS.

In north Langley, the first NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW
of the year was seen.


Sightings for Thursday, March 30th:

At Boundary Bay, 4 SNOWY OWLS were seen along the foreshore
at the foot of 72nd St. in Delta.


No reports for Wednesday, March 29th.


Sightings for Tuesday, March 28th:

The PAINTED BUNTING was seen again today at 906 Damelart Way
in Brentwood Bay near Victoria. For further information on this bird,
please call the Victoria RBA at (250) 592-3381.

At Colony Farm in Port Coquitlam, a male MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD
was seen near the central Hydro tower.

At Jericho Park in Vancouver, a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was present.

At Brunswick Point in Delta, 4 SNOWY OWLS remain. Also, 2 VIRGINIA
RAILS and a NORTHERN SHRIKE were present.


Sightings for Monday, March 27th:

The Vancouver Island PAINTED BUNTING was seen again today
at 906 Damelart Way, Brentwood Bay.

At Colony Farm, on the Port Coquitlam side, 1 AMERICAN KESTREL
and 2 NORTHERN SHRIKES were seen.


Sightings for Sunday, March 26th:

The Vancouver Island PAINTED BUNTING was seen again today at
906 Damelart Way, Brentwood Bay.

In Vancouver, a SNOWY OWL was seen near the intersection of
47th Ave and Vine Street.

Near the Westham Island Bridge in Delta, the CLARK'S GREBE
was seen between the bridge and the float homes.


Sightings for Saturday, March 25th:

The Vancouver Island PAINTED BUNTING was seen again today
at 906 Damelart Way, Brentwood Bay.

At Iona Island in Richmond, the female REDHEAD was seen in
the outer pond.

In Delta along 68th St, the BEWICK'S SWAN was still present with
TRUMPETER and TUNDRA SWANS.

At Brunswick Point, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was present. At the nearby
Reifel Bird Sanctuary, sightings included 4 BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERONS, 4 CEDAR WAXWINGS and 2 RING-NECKED
DUCKS. A MUTE SWAN was reported from the Westham Island
bridge.

In Surrey, a TURKEY VULTURE was seen near 192 St and 37 Ave.


Sightings for Friday, March 24th:

The PAINTED BUNTING was seen again today at 906 Damelart
Way, Brentwood Bay.


Sightings for Thursday, March 23rd:

The PAINTED BUNTING was seen at 906 Damelart Way, Brentwood
Bay,on Vancouver
Island.

Near Brunswick Point, the CLARK'S GREBE was seen in Canoe
Pass, an arm of the Fraser River, between the parking lot and the
Westham Island Bridge.

Off the Tsawwassen jetty, a RHINOCEROS AUKLET was present.

Along Deltaport Way in Delta were 2 AMERICAN KESTRELS.

RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS were seen at Deas Island Regional
Park in Delta, Burnaby Lake in Burnaby, and in North Delta.


Sightings for Wednesday, March 22nd:

A PAINTED BUNTING was seen at a garden feeder at 906 Damelart Way at
Brentwood Bay between 4 and 5 pm today.


Sightings for Tuesday, March 21st:

A PAINTED BUNTING was seen at a garden feeder at 906 Damelart Way at
Brentwood Bay between 4 and 5 pm today. For further information on this

At Brunswick Point, a CLARK'S GREBE was seen in Canoe Pass with 4
WESTERN GREBES, viewed from the parking lot.

At Reifel were 1 NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL and 2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS.

In Delta, 9 SNOWY OWLS remain on the foreshore at the foot of 72nd
Street on Boundary Bay.
