Hello Tweets,

We wanted to post a small update on the Weyerhaeuser Tufted Duck near Federal Way,which we again observed again this afternoon from 2 locations. The first sightings of the Tufted Duck came from the south end of North Lake between 12pm-1pm,where the bird was visible from 2 separate locations amongst a nice gathering of Ring-necked Ducks and Am.Wigeon. The Tufted Duck soon flew off with a portion of the other ducks and was later relocated at the Weyerhaeuser Corporate Pond at 2pm,where we were joined by Brian Bell. The bird was easily visible from the extreme south end of the "lake" from the main parking lot closest to the large Weyerhaeuser building and was most often observed resting with it's head tucked under it's wings, but also swam around and dove too. The bird was again in company of a large group of Ring-necked Ducks and a scattering of other waterfowl. We were able during this time to get some more photos of the bird, which we have just placed 6 new photos onto our website at the following link: http://www.pbase.com/godwit/recent_photos/ . We left the Tufted Duck at the Weyerhaeuser Corporate Pond at 4pm,where it remained resting with a raft of Ring-necked Ducks.

Other noteworthy bird sightings this afternoon in the immediate Weyerhaeuser area included an immature Bald Eagle,a single Pileated Woodpecker and 2 calling Hutton's Vireos.

Sincerely,

Ruth and Patrick Sullivan
