Tweets - it looked spring-like this morning, but it was COLD - a chilly 36
degrees when we started, and it didn't warm up for the first 3 hours.
Periodically the overcast would thin or clear to sunshine, but the clouds
came back several times. Out there, it felt like we were on the cusp of
spring, more than it felt like spring had arrived.

Highlights:

GREEN HERON One flew down, then up, the slough
OSPREY One on nest
Red-tailed Hawk Both nests west of West Lake Samm Pkwy are active
Barn Owl Matt had 2 at the mansion, one at the East
Meadow early
Great Horned Owl Matt heard west of the windmill
Rufous Hummingbird First female of the spring at Marymoor
Y.-rumped Warbler Only warblers were about 3 YRWAs
Fox Sparrow One or more were not Sooties - probably altvagens
Br.-headed Cowbird First of spring - Oh boy!
Western Meadowlark 2 near Compost Piles

Swallows were pretty sparse - good numbers of TREE SWALLOW, including some
inside a box in the East Meadow, but only one VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOW.

For the day, 60 species. I think the cowbird was the only new species for
the list, though there were several new birds if you just look at the
Wednesday walk lists.
