Cool north breeze, hazy overcast with some blue patches at Turning Basin
#3 (TB3). One of the Hamm Creek Ospreys (likely the male, which hangs
out on the west-bank power tower, dropped from the sky in front of me,
completely submerging and coming up with what appeared to be a salmon
(<10in). The female of the pair was atop the nest, rearranging some of
the nest material.

Bird of the day (BOTD) today was a lone Western Grebe. This is only the
second of this species I've seen at TB3 in the past 3 years. The first
Caspian Tern of the year was a close second for BOTD.

The Mew Gulls have started to appear in greater numbers, hanging out
mostly on the sandbank at the south end of TB3.
