This morning and again this afternoon I observed a Yellow-billed Loon in
Port Madison Bay north of Bainbridge Island. The place to look for this bird
is from the waterfront area of downtown Suquamish. A spot above the boat
ramp along a cyclone fence is great for scoping Port Madison Bay. Obviously
there is a concentration of bait fish in the area as there was a nice show
of bird activity in the bay. Four species of loons in array of plumages were
present and it made for some interesting comparisons. The Yellow-billed Loon
looks to be a first year bird or I suppose an adult still in basic plumage
(would seem late to me). There are some dull Common Loons in the area so one
must be somewhat cautious.

Porpoises were surfacing and a Gray Whale has been reported in the area so
things have been quite interesting here.
