At 4 pm today (April 9) I was delighted for the first time to see a turkey
vulture circling above the our property on South Whidbey, then a second
appeared.

An hour later, a third was sitting in a fir and two were pacing across the
top of our pond's large earthen dam.

Ten years ago I planted black bamboo all across the face of the dam - 150
feet or so. A project yesterday was spraying all the bamboo with very aged
fish fertilizer. After 4 showers, I'd rate my odor as "mild."

Watching the behavior of the vultures, as they paced and walked on both
sides of the bamboo on top of the dam and below, I'm pretty sure that's what
brought them in.

Way easier than the carcass platform I contemplated several years ago when I
was getting bored with the seed feeders. Not too satisfying for the TVs
though.
