The MUTE SWAN at the Steigerwald Lake NWR near Washougal, Clark
County continues to be most consistently found in the east pond. It was
present on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
On Sunday morning I saw six TURKEY VULTURES over the paper mill
in Camas, I believe that the birds that roost on the cliffs west of Camas
come to the mill to use the thermals created by heat produced in the
cooking and drying processes. I noticed this usage last year in the
mornings when the birds would be seen daily over the stacks that are
venting steam.
