Hello Tweeters,

I birded the Kent Valley yesterday, stopping by Boeing Ponds, Kent Ponds,
and the site near the Emerald Downs in Auburn where the Black Phoebe has
been seen recently. It was rainy and windy, but I enjoyed the day out
anyway.

Boeing Ponds had lots of ducks, nothing unusual. An Osprey spent a while
hovering over the pond but never came up with anything. Swallows seem to be
much more numerous in the last few days ? Tree and Violet-Green were
everywhere this weekend. Also Savannah Sparrows were abundant, and singing
in numerous places.

The Kent Ponds area was quiet, a few harriers and eagles, and several
singing Marsh Wrens.

I stopped by 29th St NW in Auburn to look for the Black Phoebe. It wasn?t
by the bridge over the creek, so I walked up the road to the intersection
with M Street NW. Remember that Black Phoebes are pretty strongly tied to
water, I decided to check other parts of the creek to see if it had moved
somewhere else along it. Where M St dead-ends, you can see quite a bit more
of the riparian vegetation. I peeked my head in and found the Phoebe
actively feeding in the small trees and shrubs along the creek. It was
quite vocal, but hard to hear over the traffic noise from Highway 167.

Also swung by North Lake ? many ducks, including about 30 Ring-necks, but no
sign of a Tufted Duck.

Good birding,

Matt
