Wasn't there some minor scandal about this a few years ago, when they were
piping in fake birdsong for some golf tournament (I thought it was the
Masters, but maybe not)? Canyon wrens or something?

But yes, I watched some of the tournament and it was nice to hear the
cardinals singing. I think of all the eastern birds we don't get, the
cardinal is the one I miss most. Common as all get out, but pretty, with a
pretty song. (My "bird clock" has a cardinal at 1 o'clock, and it always
makes me smile when I hear it.)
