On Monday my students and I watched a goldfinch as it ran male willow
flowers through its beak. The flowers would sometimes break off when this
happened. We reached up and gathered some from the tree and tasted them, not
bad, slightly sweet with an aftertaste kind of like gatoraide according to
one student.
