After much of the first wave of Sandhill Cranes moved out sometime last week, we have some new arrivals this week. There were about 700 at the Corfu corn field this morning, many of then Greater Sandhills (which seem to come through in April). There were around 4000 today at a corn field just north of SR 26 right on the Adams-Grant county line near Crab Creek, with nearly 1000 still there at noon. The county line ponds had about 12000 Canada and Cackling Geese and two white geese (one was a snow) at mid-day. There were also lots of Northern Pintails, 7 Am Avocets, 14 B-n Stilts, 20+ Dunlin and a Greater Yellowlegs. Yesterday at the far north end of Broadway Ave at the alfalfa cubing plant there were 2+ Tricolored Blackbirds in the flock on the road and landing on the wires.
