I have had a very nice looking orange variant of the purple finch coming to
my feeder on Camano Island- is this very common around here? I am wondering
if the orange variants come from another area or are from this area. Also,
Peterson's seems to indicate it is a variant of the house finch, but mine is
definitely orange on its crown, not brown.
