In the 1970's I ate my sack lunch in the park at Embarcadero Center in SF. I saw some House Finches eating sherry blossoms. Interestingly, they ate the base of the flower but spit out the ends of the petals. So I decided to find out what they were tasting. Well, the base of the flower is very sweet. The ends of the blossom are very bitter. Try it. It's not fatal.
