Maybe the Birch trees have turned into Giant Sundews,
and when the Siskins land to eat the seeds, they get
stuck and can't escape, and get slowly consumed.
Way up at the top of the trees where we can't see them
....
Kinda like Charlie Brown's Kite-eating tree ...

Is that why we have so few WT Kites in Washington?
Are they getting eaten by Kite-eating trees?
