Wednesday April 12, 2006:
Two BAND-TAILED PIGEONS were seen in the 7500 block of Superior Road in
lower Lantzville.
Twelve GREATER YELLOWLEGS, one AMERICAN PIPIT, and one ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW
were spotted at the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.
Several ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS were seen and heard at the Fairwinds Golf
Course in Nanoose Bay.

Tuesday April 11:
A WILSON'S SNIPE was seen at Somenos Creek in Duncan.
A MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD and RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS were seen at Neck Point Park
in Nanaimo.
A COMMON YELLOWTHROAT was seen at the Morrell Nature Sanctuary in Nanaimo.
A HOUSE WREN was spotted at Beban Park in Nanaimo.
A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen in the 1200 block of Nelson Street in
Nanaimo.

Monday April 10:
Two HOUSE FINCH and a PURPLE FINCH were seen in the 500 block of Sperling
Road in Nanaimo.
A female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was seen coming to feeders in the 200 block of
Dawkins Lane in Nanaimo.

Sunday April 09:
A female MOUNTIAN BLUEBIRD, three TREE SWALLOWS, over 200 VIOLET-GREEN
SWALLOWS, a NORTHERN HARRIER and two YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen at
the Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.
A pair of WOOD DUCKS, an AMERICAN DIPPER and two YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were
seen at the Little Qualicum River Fish Hatchery in Qualicum Beach.
Two AMERICAN GOLDFINCH are visiting feeders in the Eagle Park area of
Nanaimo.
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS, a yellow variance HOUSE FINCH and AMERICAN GOLDFINCH
are coming to feeders in the Little Qualicum River Estates just north of
Qualicum Beach.
The Sunday Bird Walk went to Legacy Marsh in upper Lantzville. Fifteen
birders found thirty-six species. Among the highlights were a pair of
PEREGRINE FALCONS, a MERLIN, GOLDEN-CROWNED and RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS and a
kettle of TURKEY VULTURES circled above us.
