I took a drive around the area surrounding Elma this afternoon and had some notable sightings. Here they are:

Dunlap Rd. (south of Elma off of Hwy 12): increasing numbers of Greater Yellowlegs - 6 seen today, also my first Barn Swallow of the year here as well

North Blockhouse Rd. (south of Elma off of Hwy 12): Cinnamon Teal pair

Vance Creek county park: single Osprey on the nest snag

Keys Rd.: Turkey Vulture on the roadside (very close views)

Wenzel Slough Rd. at the hunter registration kiosk (west end): 30 Black-bellied Plovers with several in transition to alternate plumage, 24 Long-billed Dowitchers (not 100% on the ID due to not hearing them in flight)

Also, spotted one remaining Trumpeter Swan in a grassy wetland north of the road where I saw two swans a couple weeks ago. Seems real late for them to still be around.

Good birding,
