Today a Townsend's Solitaire appeared at my sister's house in a Vine Maple Tree. Has been hanging around all day and does not seem afraid therefore offering good photo ops. Four Varied Thrushes are still hanging around and love to scratch in the thistle seed that falls from other bird feeders. A lone Fox Sparrow is still around and ids with the California race.
In my own backyard I have a 8 hole thistle feeder that has as many has 14 Goldfinches coming to it. I have it hanging on a pole that is up against a young Mountain Ash tree. While they wait to get a spot on the feeder they pick at the new buds coming out. I am tempted to get an extension for the feeder but wonder if I would be stretching my luck. Absolutely love those little guys.
Nothing else exciting here at this time.
Good birding to all.
