Hi Tweets,

Yesterday Barb and I spent most of the day birding the northern reaches of
Grant County. The weather was great compared to Saturday with some wind (but
not too much) and bright sunshine.
Raptors were much in evidence as we managed to locate 13 species of
raptors. The following birds and locations were noted.

Bald eagle - several locations
Golden Eagle - Blue Lake
Osprey - Park Lake
Northern Harrier - Thick as flies, everywhere
Sharp-shinned Hawk - several in different locations
Red-tailed Hawk - dozens including several Rufous-morph, and one light-morph
Harlan's Hawk - one light-morph near Wilson Creek
Swainson's Hawk - one along Stratford Road
Ferruginous Hawk - one east of Wilson Creek along SR-28
Rough-legged Hawk - 2 both near Marlin-Krupp seems quite late
American Kestrel - many everywhere
Prairie Falcon - Lake Lenore
Peregrine Falcon - one with a full crop near Park Lake
GYRFALCON - one near Coulee City along Pinto Ridge Road

All in all a great day with a lot of other good birds as well.

Cheers

Doug Schonewald
