Our Rufous population is finally starting to settle in here at Hyak and be a
more consistent fixture at the feeder. Yesterday was the first day to see
multiple males at once, and even a squabble occurred.

The first female Rufous at Hyak was spotted yesterday, eight days after the
first male. Normally the first female will show 1-2 days after the first
male

Still, some nearby areas, like Alpental, just saw their first Rufous
yesterday.

This year the migration pattern is definitely different than normal, perhaps
because of colder temperatures both here and getting to here.

A calliope was also spotted in the upper hills in Cle Elum in the last week.
