For the past week or so a female House Finch has been visiting our feeder.
Noticeable a tumor of the right eye, increasing in size day by day
obliterating the eye completely. However, she was able to use the affected
eye side to feed, watching with the healthy eye things around her. Until
today, when it appeared that the tumor was getting to big to dip any longer
into the feeder. This late afternoon a male House Finch started to feed her.
Her general appearance is not encouraging. I don't think she will last much
longer despite the help from the male. For interested persons I have a
close-up shot of the eye tumor. Just an observation!
