Last spring/summer we had confirmed/successful nesting of a pair of Cooper's Hawks on Baterman Island in the Columbia River at the mouth of the Yakima River in the central Tri-Cities area.

Over the past week or so I've encountered a mature Cooper's Hawk behaving territorially along the west end of the nature trail in Two Rivers County Park on the Columbia River opposite the mouth of the Snake River. Today there were two at once and one was packing a starling. How likely is it that, if they're nesting, they'd already have chicks to feed?
