Dear Tweets,

As an Audubon Society member and NW birder for the last 35 years, I
wanted to take this opportunity to share with you the work of the
fairly new but very active, grass-roots oriented environmental group,
the Center for Biological Diversity, and, in particular, their
campaign to promote conservation of endangered owl species and their
habitats throughout North America, in coordination with the imminent
release of the movie "Hoot". As you may know, "Hoot" is based on a
book about a group of kids who organize to stop the destruction of an
active Burrowing Owl nest by developers. While this plot may sound a
bit "recycled", it is, unfortunately, just as timely as ever! It also
provides us with an opportunity to educate a new generation of young
people regarding the importance of land conservation and endangered
species protection. At a time when we have a president who is
seriously proposing to relax air pollution standards and oil refinery
regulations as a solution to rising oil prices and oil scarcity, the
Imperiled Owls Campaign is a breath of fresh (unpolluted) air.

Please follow the link below and check out both the Campaign and the
excellent group which put it together:

Thanks much and please pass on this link to others you think may be
interested...
