The sparrows are coming back!

I work from home. I have a lovely office window that catches my attention
all to often. Yesterday was especially bad... except that it was so good.

Right away I was distracted by a song that I love. In the budding vine maple
just beyond my window a small flock of RED WINGED BLACKBIRDS were greeting
the morning light. The lawn and the garden by the gate hosted TOWHEES, WHITE
CROWNED SPARROWS, a lone STARLING and more ROBINS then I though I had worms
for.

The 2nd shift brought one BLACK THROATED SPARROW, the growing family of
STELLAR JAYS, pink billed DARKEYED JUNCOS, and a GOLDEN CROWN SPARROW.

An unidentified humming bird checked out my pots of flowers and a group of
BLACK CAPPED CHICK A DEES lit on the maple tree. I thought for a moment that
I had a new species at the seed feeder, but it turns out that female
COWBIRDS hang together (poor little foster children), there was a whistling
male COWBIRD in the Big Leaf Maple. Late in the morning a busy group of
CHESTNUT BACKED CHICK A DEES came calling. I've seen BAND TAIL PIGEONS
before but I've never had them come park right in front of the window
allowing me to give them such a good look-see before. They come to the yard
so seldom that my first thought is always that someone's pet dove has
escaped.

I know it doesn't count as my yard, but across the highway in the long
abandoned pastor a BALD EAGLE lifted gracefully from a cedar branch. It was
a good day to work.

Thank you Karen H for the title.
