Yesterday we had 6 White-Crowned sparrows show up at our thistle feeder and
2 were the Gambell's race. This was so exciting since this is the first
sighting of the Gambell's we have had in the 7 years we have been feeding
thistle seed. We have recently had the 40 acres of tree farm logged to the
north of us and it could have moved the birds to our feeder with the loss of
habitat. We also had 8 Gold-Crowned Sparrows at the same time in the yard.
They all eventually fed at the feedere. Earlier this spring we had only 2
WCS and 4 GCS in the yard.
