Early this morning I had a Townsends Solitaire in the back yard eating what
remains of last years crabapples and cotoneaster berries. He later visited
the fountain for a drink.

At around 5:00 this evening I spotted a very large bird soaring above the
intersection of Hiway 900 (Sunset) and Duval St./Coal Creek Parway in
Renton. At first I thought Bald Eagle, but something just wasn't right -
after I popped the binoculars out I was delighted to see that the bird was
an American White Pelican taking advantage of the late afternoon "thermals".
The bird soared in wide circles getting smaller and smaller with each
round. A nice find for Western Washington at any time of the year.

Also, yesterday late afternoon I had an adult Golden Eagle moving west to
east along the ridge of Cougar Mountain in Issaquah - a stunning bird.
