It was a beautiful day out on the Sandpiper Trail today at the Grays Harbor NWR in Hoquiam. Lots and lots of shorebirds were present just before high tide. Here's what was seen in order of abundance:

Western Sandpiper
Dunlin
Semipalmated Plover
Red Knot (35)
Dowitcher spp. (3)

The official counts should be on the www.shorebirdfestival.com site. An immature Bald Eagle and a Peregrine Falcon put the shorebirds up in the air in spectacular fashion as well today.

Hope to see lots of Tweets out on the boardwalk tomorrow!
