I started my morning on M Street near Emerald Downs and found the Black Phoebe feeding in the trees on the north side of the road across from the entrance to the horse farm. I also saw several YR Warblers, a Common Yellowthroat and heard an Orange Crowned Warbler along with several other species. The shallow ponds further south on M Street had a small flock of peeps - only saw Least SP - as well as Am Widgeon, Shoveler, Mallard etc.

I then headed north to 277th and West Valley Highway where I saw a small flock of peeps too far out to ID. I stopped briefly at the "Old Fishin' Pond" on Frager road and saw a Green Heron and Wood Ducks. I stopped briefly on the east side of Kent Ponds and walked up on the dike where I found skads of YR Warblers, a couple of calling Orange Crowned Warblers and a couple of Ring-necked Ducks.

I found a solitary Solitary Sandpiper and one Greater Yellowlegs at the pond on the north side of S. 216th at Riverview Blvd S. There were also several Least SP's, a couple of Western SP's, lots of Swallows including my first N. RW Swallows of the year, a single California Quail and a Warbling Vireo.

I made one more stop on S 204th where there were dozens of peeps including lots of Least and some Western, another Solitary Sandpiper and Greater Yellowlegs. Another birder and I witnessed a Killdeer making a very convincing case of serious injury to lead us away from its nesting site.

All in all a nice morning to be out birding.
