Hi Tweeters,

I went to see the shorebirds yesterday. The winner
for most beautiful bird was around 4-5 Ruddy
Turnstones in breeding plumage on the rocks out from
Tokeland near the private boat launch.

I read the Greater White-fronted Goose report from
Neah Bay with great interest as I saw many many
White-fronts move through the Bottle Beach to Tokeland
area yesterday. Most of the flocks were mixed with
Canada's but had quite a few White-fronts. Must be
time for their migratory push, too. At Johns River
Park I stopped counting White-fronted's at 25 birds at
the ponds at the end of the paved trail. I don't know
how many I saw in flight but around 150 geese would be
a reasonable estimate in addition the Johns River
geese.

One Spotted Sandpiper at the trail right at the
entrance to Tokeland.

Of course I saw a lot more species but those have
already been reported.

Don't forget to be prepared when going out to the
coast. I was very very glad I took my heavy coat with
me. The wind was biting and had some sideways rain,
too.
