Hi folks,

I know you are not accustomed to hearing from me but I am no longer working
16 to 18 hours a day so I am now able to see the world around me better and
even have time to share. So. ...

Just moved into a new place near the Mannette Bridge and am discovering the
local city "wildlife". None to the wild things here seem particularly wild,
most suffer some degree of habituation, but they are all still very lovely.

To my surprise i have discovered that our neighborhood has a pair of
resident SCRUB JAYS! They visit a neighbor's backyard feeder and I think I may soon
locate their nest it one of the large trees across the street along the
shoreline.

I will have to sharpen my I. D. skills for the many different sparrows!
There seem to be a significant number of different species here. I think I've
seen white crowned, English (of course), fox, and a few other smaller one's
for which I have not yet sorted out all of the stripes, etc.

My most pleasant siting was at sunrise one day last week watching an adult
Bald Eagle soaring gracefully UNDER the Mannette Bridge! No, I did not have
my camera ready. I was most likely heading up to the Mannette eagle territory
on Winfeld a few blocks to the north of me. That nest has come down out of
the tree during this past two weeks, so I look forward to seeing what the
adults will do this fall when they return.

All Take care,

Sandy Fletcher
