Tweets - it was a cool, late-summer morning today, kind of quiet. Baby
birds were all about. We had the first hints of post-breeding bird
movements, a sign that fall (at least as I calculate it) begins in just
three or four days from now on the cross quarter (half-way between solstice
and equinox).

Highlights:

Green Heron Three juveniles at weir early
Pied-billed Grebe Adult on nest with 3-4 eggs at lake
Osprey Four birds at the nest (2 adults & 2 babies)
American Coot First in a long while
Hairy Woodpecker Never common at Marymoor - 1 juvenile
Willow Flycatcher Lots. Singing. ???
W. Wood-Pewee Ditto
Warbling Vireo 2+ at east end of boardwalk
Red-eyed Vireo 2 sw of East Meadow at eye level!
Wilson's Warbler 4 sightings of brilliant males
House Finch Large numbers (60+), many immatures

We had several Black-headed Grosbeaks, but only one Swainson's Thrush heard
whitting.

For the day, something like 54 species.
