Since early July I've been looking for my elusive "life" mountain quail in Capitol Forest. The field guides tell me I'm just about out of luck since this time of year they don't vocalize. The NatGeo "Bird Atlas" even recommended that one should get a professional bird guide to find this one. I guess the challenge makes it all the more exciting to look for one. Does anyone have any tips about where in Cap. Forest I should look? I've been scouring the clearcuts at mid-elevation. so far.
