Hello All,

Directions to the Iowa Beef/Tyson slop ponds are to be found in the fine
book " A Birders Guide to Washington" edited by Hal Opperman, on pages
507-08. Take Dodd Rd east off HWY 12 south of Burbank and then take the
second dirt road to the south after you go past the last feedlot pens on the
right. This road is an old rail bed and should be watched as you drive it as
there are the odd RR spike still present. All the ponds are to the west of
the road so morning viewing is best. Also a spotting scope is a must. There
are many DO NOT TRESSPASS signs along the west side of the spur loop
railroad tracks, please obey these signs as this will allow contenued
birding of this very good birding site. Please let us know what and how many
shorebirds you find by way of a thank-you.
Later Mike
