As a rule I don't attempt to wax eloquent about bird sightings - just don't have the time or the talent - but just 30 minutes ago Glenda and I were sitting out on the patio enjoying the onset of dusk and witnessed a Great Horned Owl fly over and past us (within a 100 ft.) and land on a high, dead branch in a large Willow tree in the yard of our next door neightbor (about 800 ft. away). I'd never seen one cross such a long distance in the open and under speed before - WOW! Talk about your cure for free range house cats.
