A first year male YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD circled over the heads of
participants in my morning Accessible Birding trip to the Edmonds Marsh
and Pier. Species were few, but what we had was exciting. LEAST
SANDPIPERS were already at the Marsh, and the BLUE-WINGED TEAL flying
overhead may have been scared off by a very hungry looking COOPER?S
HAWK. I truly love leading this trip because I never know what?s going
to pop up when we?re out there.

Fishermen and -women crowded the available space at the end of the
Public Pier, but we still managed great close-up views of COMMON MURRE
and other alcids. Two RING-BILLED GULLS flew overhead, while PURPLE
MARTINS were thick and hungry babies were hanging out of the gourds.
Alan spotted two downy chicks in the Glaucous-winged NEST on the far
west pilings next to the south side of a docked ferry.

The following list includes species seen at Brackett?s Landing.
