Tweets - there were a bunch of birders out today - I think I counted 15, but
I may have missed someone. A good thing there were a bunch of birds, too.

I never sent out a report from last week. When I got home, just remembering
the morning put me to sleep. It was Q-U-I-E-T. The only highlights were a
Pileated Woodpecker, and a report from the rowers that they'd had a WESTERN
SCREECH-OWL *inside* the boathouse in the early morning.

Today, the birds weren't particularly noisy, but they were plentiful. Some
highlights:

Osprey Three at the nest early, though they're
fledged
Cooper's Hawk 2 juveniles and an adult; many sightings
Hairy Woodpecker At least 1, 3 sightings
Spotted Sandpiper 2 on lily pads in slough and at the lake
Pacific-slope Flycatcher 1-2 glimpsed. These are only migrants at Marymoor
Warbling Vireo At least a couple
Red-eyed Vireo 1-2 seen, another heard singing

We had a five warbler day, with many ORANGE-CROWNED, at least one or two
YELLOW, two BLACK-THROATED GRAY, and a WILSON'S WARBLER, as well as several
COMMON YELLOWTHROATS.

When we were near the weir, we got to see a BELTED KINGFISHER chasing after
two juvenile COOPER'S HAWKS, while a hummingbird (almost certainly ANNA'S),
chased the kingfisher. Soon after, we saw an adult Coop in the Pea Patch,
but when we came through there hours later there was a juvenile there.

For the day, 54 species. What's amazing is that we reached 54 while dipping
on: Bushtit, Marsh Wren, European Starling, Red-winged Blackbird,
Brown-headed Cowbird, and House Sparrow, all of which are likely to be seen
this time of year.

It was definitely a good day.
