Subject: [Tweeters] Red tail carrying a live mountain beaver

Just returned from Lord Hill Park, along the pipeline trail a redtail was
struggling to fly carrying a large dark something, which when it passed
overhead turned out to be a mountain beaver whose feet were still moving
while airborne! I could not fathom why in the world the hawk would carry
this animal rather than kill and eat it on the ground. It was clearly at
the very limit of the hawks carrying capacity, is was really working hard to
fly and it was pretty low and not gaining altitude. The pair went over a
hill and I lost sight of them.
