Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday August 17. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On August 15 a juvenile LITTLE STINT was reported from the ?Redhead Pond?
area of Fern Ridge Reservoir.

Among the many birds seen on the August 8 offshore boat trip out of Newport
were 20 PINK-FOOTED SHEARWAATERS, 500 FORK-TAILED STORM-PETRELS, 350
FULMARS, and 35 RED PHALAROPES.

On August 13 a male MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was at Vancouver Lake and a STILT
SANDPIPER was at nearby Ridgefield NWR. The next day 30 GREAT EGRETS and
four WHITE PELICANS were on Sauvie Island. EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were seen
during the week near 144th. And Halsey in Portland, at Verboort, north of
Forest Grove, and in McMinnville.

On August 16 A BONAPARTE?S GULL, a SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, and a PECTORAL
SANDPIPER were at Ankeny NWR. Among the many shorebirds at Fern Ridge
Reservoir during the week were two SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, two PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, and two SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS.

On August 14 six BAIRD?S SANDPIPERS were at Ochoco Reservoir, and an
AMERICAN THREE-TOED WOODPECKER was at nearby Walton Lake in the Ochoco
Mountains.
