spent about two hours at the montlake fill yesterday, and for most of that
time it was pretty quiet... best bird was a lesser yellowlegs, who probed
for dinner about 10-15 feet distant for maybe 10 minutes along the southern
shoreline of shoveler pond... four least sandpipers, two northern flickers,
one female northern shoveler, a mallard hen, one stellers jay, one each
small flock of starlings and crows, and a few american goldfinches rounded
out the pond experience.

in the distance was noted an adult bald eagle making life frenetic for birds
along the southeast shoreline of union bay...

photo of the lesser yellowleg to be posted later tonight (after an all-day
visit to jetty island in everett)...
